Rachel & Mike | Wedding Photography at Whatton House and Gardens

Wedding Photography at Whatton House and Gardens

Rachel and Mike’s was the first BIG wedding I have photographed in over a year! It was so wonderful and such an honour to do their wedding photography at Whatton House and Gardens. Rachel and Mike’s was the first wedding at this new Tipi venue, and it was such a joy to photograph!

I met Rachel and her 7 bridesmaids at her parents beautiful home just outside Nottingham, where we got some gorgeous portraits in her mum and dad’s lovely garden. I set off for the venue just before the vintage car arrived to collect Rachel, so I was there at the other side to photograph her and her dad arriving.

Ceremony

Rachel and Mike are anything but conventional! Which is what I like! So it really was great to photograph such an intimate and laid back ceremony, conducted by one of Mike’s 7 best men! It was full of smiles and laughter and was super personal. Mike wore a hand tailored bright orange jacket that was made for him by a very talented friend. Apparently it was this jacket which then inspired the colours and themes for the wedding. All Rachel’s bridesmaids were given a colour palette in which to find their bridesmaids dress. They were all so different but tied in so beautifully. Rachel herself wore a beautiful dress from Willowby Brides. It suited her just perfectly. I loved the sleeves and the under the bust detail. It had a slight medieval feel to it. After the ceremony, the guests cheered so loudly. It was almost like they’d not been let out the house for 18 months!

Tipis at Whatton House and Gardens

The venue was spectacular. The grounds of Whatton House are just gorgeous, with loads of little nooks and crannies to explore, including the Chinese Garden, which we simply had to take photographs in, since the couple have both got fond memories of travelling in China, and Mike lived there for a while. The venue just suited Rachel and Mike down to the ground. With their boho vibes and laidback natures. One of my favourite bits was getting in the middle of the party again. I won’t say the middle of the dance floor, as that is against the rules. But there are no rules about dancing. So dancing there was. And it was great! Here are a few photos from the day.
