Thoresby Hall Wedding Photography
I have been photographing weddings at Thoresby Hall for many years…
And what a delight it is to return again and again for wedding photography at Thoresby Hall – a wonderful Nottingham wedding venue. One of my faves. It is a fantastic spot to get married. With the grand hotel a stone’s throw away from the Courtyard to get ready at and the big Riding hall festooned with fairy lights, it really is quite magical!
I have returned to Thoresby Riding Hall for wedding photography many times over the years. Below is my first wedding at Thoresby Riding Hall for Rachel and Scott…

Wedding Photography at Thoresby Riding Hall:
Rachel and Scott had a gorgeous wedding and I was lucky enough to do the wedding photography at Thoresby Hall. What a lovely day to capture, and so nice to revisit their beautiful wedding. Lots has happened for this gorgeous couple since this wedding took place in 2018, as they now have a little addition to their family. So big congratulations Rachel and Scott. I hope you are surviving parenthood and enjoying all the craziness it brings to your lives. Here is a little flash back to a time when it took you less than 20 minutes to leave the house, and furthermore, when you could carry around a handbag with just your purse, phone and keys in it. A time when you could go to the toilet uninterrupted and sleep all the way through the night! Ah, those were the days right?!
Sherwood Hideaway
The girls all got ready at Sherwood Hideaway, in the depths of Sherwood Forest and halfway between the church and the venue. They had a little woodland cabin where all the preparations were taking place. And it made for a great backdrop for bridal portraits, especially with all that gorgeous blue sky! I really enjoyed all the buzz around Rachel and her bridesmaids as they got ready for the big day.
The ceremony (and a word about my second shooter)
The ceremony took place at St Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church in Lincoln. My second shooter Pete joined me to photograph guests arriving at the church. He took some fabulous pictures from the back of the church. It is always great to have the company of a fantastic and experienced photographer with me on a wedding day. Also, Pete has been in the industry a long time and got some amazing creative shots for me. I like working with someone who has a slightly different take on proceedings. Every photographer has a different creative eye.
Pete and I shoot quite differently so it was really great adding some of his creative photos into the mix. I love the shots he got of the stain glass window making patterns on the wall of the church. That light was phenomenal. I also loved the shot he got of Rachel through the car window, with a tree reflected in frame. The composition is beautiful. Pete is now a full time teacher. But I hope I can persuade him to second shoot for me again one day!
On to the wedding photography at Thoresby Hall
Thoresby Hall itself is a great location for a wedding. Firstly the guests all mingled in the courtyard with drinks and canapés, whilst musicians played and then into the riding hall for dinner. The tables were set out beautifully. It is a big old space, so plenty of room for dancing afterwards The Redfords. A fabulous band to have a good old boogie to. And as you can see, I get down and boogie with my camera too. Thanks for that shot Pete! I do believe the Redfords caught me on a film too! I am therefore getting a rep for myself as the dancing photographer. haha. What a great wedding. And lots of fun had. Lastly, it is great to share these images with you all.
