Amy & Mark | Wedding Photography at East Close Country Hotel

we were really happy with everything and we've had a lot of comments from guests about how amazing you were too.

When Amy got in touch to ask me to be her wedding photographer I was over the moon. Amy and I were bridesmaids together at my sisters wedding nearly 10 years ago. She is one of my sister’s best friends and a lovely lovely girl. I met Mark for the first time in Winchester for their engagement shoot, which was great fun. Amy and Mark have a little boy called Arthur, who was a delight to photograph and it was fun getting photos of them all together on the tree stump.

the wedding day was relaxed and beautiful, much like Amy herself. I got some beautiful portraits of Amy looking absolutely stunning in her Catherine Deane wedding dress. I also loved the table decor styled by Rachel at Love by Design Weddings with florals by Sarah Guild floral design (you can see their details below)

I asked Amy and Mark to share their favourite 5 images from their wedding and tell me why they chose these particular images. I love hearing why my couples like certain images. Here are the ones they picked…

ONE

Amy and Mark say:

We had exchanged our vows and rings and were now officially married so we could relax a bit more at this point in the ceremony, although our whole ceremony was actually quite informal and fun. We think this picture really captures the moment and we can see our guests clapping in the background.

TWO

Amy and Mark say:

We love this one of us with our son Arthur. Our wedding day was also about the union of the three of us. Keeping him still for photos was a challenge at times!

THREE

Amy and Mark say:

Mark had just lifted me down from the tree as it was a bit difficult climbing down in my dress! We really like this one as it’s just a natural moment when we were having a good laugh with our friends.

FOUR

Amy and Mark say:

This one is during our evening reception when we had a chance to take everything in together, and reflect a bit on the day we’d had. It goes by so fast!

FIVE

Amy and Mark say:

This photograph is of Mark’s Nan, who sadly passed away last month. We are so glad we were able to share our wedding day with her.

Its so touching to read how special these photos are to Amy and Mark. I was sad to hear about Mark’s nan. But so glad she got to enjoy Amy and Mark’s wedding. She was a gorges lady to photograph and that smile just says it all. What a wonderful woman.

What was the best decision you made about your wedding day? (advice to future couples)

We didn’t want it to feel too formal. We wanted to do what we felt comfortable with and what reflected us, even if this meant not doing all of the “traditional” parts of a wedding day. We did keep with some traditions, but decided to leave out others.

Is there anything you would do differently? (advice to future couples)

Try not to stress over the smaller details, because everything will fall into place on the day.

Can you remember how you found out about Kathryn Edwards Photography?

I have known Kathryn and her family since my school days and her sister Liz is one of my lifelong friends! I had been following Kathryn’s work since she began her wedding photography career. I always said to myself if I ever got married I would ask Kathryn to do the photos, and when I showed Mark the relaxed and informal style of Kathryn’s pictures there was never going to be anyone else!

Aw, thanks you guys!

My favourite 36 from the day

I must say it was hard to pick 36. It was such a wonderful day with lots of wonderful moments. And that’s what I want to do as a wedding photographer, capture moments. I have included a couple of shots with my sister in of course! I love the one at the bottom, which I got just before we left, where my sister and Amy are laughing together whilst Liz is stuffing her face with a sausage roll! typical! haha! (sorry sis!) I love the photos on the log. I remember saying to one fo the guests do you think I will persuade them to get up there later after they’ve had a few drinks. And sure enough it didn’t take a great deal of persuading. they rocked it and looked like proper super heroes!
