Lots of Lego
Ruth and Chris got married in July at Prestwold Hall. It was a fun filled day with some awesome lego details! I loved how Ruth and Chris incorporated their love of lego into their wedding day. In fact they somehow managed to incorporate everything they love into their wedding day, including their favourite film. But more on that later…
The lego was superb. Each table had a carefully designed centre piece relating to somewhere Ruth and Chris had been together, or a fact about them and their wedding. Each one was displayed in a fish bowl. So there was an Eiffel Tower, a beach, a university, an underwater scene, a pub, and a few more. Each one meticulouusly put together by Ruth and Chris. Add to this the lego figures by each place name. Each one personalised. They were brilliant!
Lots of Silly
Both Ruth and Chris got ready at Prestwold Hall. I spent the morning with Ruth and her bridesmaids as they got ready upstairs, whilst my second shooter Chris (yes it got confusing at times!) was tasked with photographing the boys downstairs and their LONG list of silly shots they wanted. I did laugh when I read the list Chris sent me with all the pictures he wanted with the boys in the morning. I haven’t included them all here, but if you watch the slide show at the end you will see some more of them. Actually hats off to Chris (and Chris) who got some cracking “action” shots etc. Meanwhile I got to photograph Ruth in all her gorgeousness with her 50s style wedding dress from Forget Me Knot Designs. It suited her perfectly and I loved photographing her spinning around in the grounds of Prestwold Hall.
Lots of Fun
The ceremony was outdoors and Ruth made her entrance walking with her dad from the entrance of the house across the lawn and right along the red carpet leading to the pagoda. I hope she really relished that walk, as we really relished taking photos. So often the walk up to the “alter” happens so quickly, but it was nice that Ruth had lots of time, and Chris could also really take the moment in. It was a beautiful sunny day for the outdoor ceremony, which true to style was lots of fun. Afterwards, guests blew bubbles as Ruth and Chris danced down the aisle.
Lots of (well 36) Photos
As with all my blog posts this year, I am sticking to my 36 photo rule. Like a roll of film. I have found this quite liberating in many ways, as I really have to be very picky about the photos that I chose to tell the story of the day. Its so easy to put LOADS of pictures in a blog post, and with this wedding there were definitely loads to chose from. But I have limited it to some of my favourites.
Some key moments for me were Chris’s smiling face as he watched Ruth walk down the aisle with her dad; Ruth and Chris dancing down the aisle as their guests blew bubbles; Ruth and Chris with their super duper fruit mocktails (they really were yummy); Ruth spinning around in front of Prestwold Hall with parasol in hand; Ruth and Chris up a tree. There were plenty more, and some of these can be seen in the slide show at the end if you want to view more.
Lots of Harry Met Sally
As I mentioned, Ruth and Chris incorporated all their favourite things into their wedding. And one of these was their favourite film, When Harry Met Sally. It is one of my favourites too. After the dancing, they put on a screening of the film, and curled up on a sofa to watch it with their friends and family. It was quite the perfect end to a perfect wedding, and I went home and did exactly the same.
