Wedding at The Old Vicarage Boutique Hotel
Rachel and John tied the knot in a wedding at The Old Vicarage Boutique hotel, which was a lovely intimate venue for a wedding and with all the pretty details added, it suited Rachel and John down to the ground, being both laid back and modern with a homely charm.
I met Rachel and her bridesmaids at the hotel whilst they were getting ready. It was lots of fun photographing them all together. They were a very giggley bunch and I got some lovely fun photos of them all. Flower girl Ava certainly came close to stealing the show with her cheeky little nature and cutest smile! But Rachel hands down stole it. She looked beautiful and radiant with a gorgeous smile that rarely left her face. Even whilst yelling “Bridesmaid!” Yes those girls were put through their paces! 😉 and rightly so. Thats the bridesmaid’s job right? To cater for every whim of the bride, as well as stand there looking pretty! When else are you gonna get all your girls to do exactly what you tell them?!
Meanwhile, John was just downstairs or mostly outside in the lovely sunshine, having a beer and a few photos by my wonderful second shooter Mark. Then when the time came, everyone popped inside for the ceremony, which was very emotional. Little Ava started crying after walking down the aisle. Bless her, I don’t think she knew why she was crying. But it was all a bit overwhelming for her watching her dad get married! Anyway, she started everyone else off, and even the photographer was struggling to hold back the tears. I blame the music. If you will walk in to “Wings” by Birdy. Gets me every time. In fact, I was probably in tears watching their slide show back too! I digress…
Drinks on the lawn
After the ceremony, everyone made their way outside for drinks on the lawn and a few photos. There was a lovely little tree swing, which was perfect for some cute pictures of the kids (and grown-ups) and some lavender bushes, which were perfect for the couple portraits.
Off the beaten track…
After dinner, I took John and Rachel just down the road where Mark and I had discovered a little alley-way where the light was perfect for some additional couple portraits. I like exploring a little off the beaten track to find something a bit different, and the little alley way was perfect. John and Rachel probably wondered why I was taking them down a dark alley, but I think after showing them a few of my shots on the back of my camera, they saw that the light and location was perfect. Will definitely find that spot again if I ever go back there.
It was all in all a lovely wedding and I stayed until after the dancing had started. Everyone clearly had a great time. There were relatives over from the states and friends from all over the country. So it was lovely to see them all come together for Rachel and John on their special day.
